Farm Journal

Within these pages you will find our life. There are happy and sad times here, all we share with you as a ministry and witness of God's provision to our home and family. Grab a box of tissue and tread lightly as you go. We will make mistakes, we will do things that work, we will learn much in our adventures, but most of all we will dwell with God and follow his guidance in the place he has given us. Life on our little farm has been very difficult the past 2 years. Below is how this past year (2005) has gone and it may give you an idea of the past couple of years and why the site hasn't been updated lately!

Enjoy our 2005 Christmas Letter!

To our Family and Friends,

This has been a long year with good times and bad times, joyous and sad times. I am reminded of Ecclesiastes 3:

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

This summarizes our year! There are many things that have happened, too many to share them all. So, I will share the highlights and the most important things that have happened.

Satch is still attending college and still does not have a job which has been a blessing this past year with all of the other things going on. He is steadfast and keeping the faith strong in our home. He has worked on our rental trailer to get it ready to rent. Still lots to do but it should be done soon. He has also been diagnosed with glaucoma. Eye drops have helped.

Satch’s father, Richard, Sr., is doing fine, still spending his time watching TV and playing Solitaire. His health is pretty good except for glaucoma which is being controlled well with eye drops.

Marie and April moved to our home in June. Marie was diagnosed with cancer 5 years ago and was medically retired from the Army in June. She passed way on December 8th. April will be staying with us until she graduates and is ready to move on. She is 16.

Tasha is still in foster care. In September she had a baby girl! (Yes, we are grandparents!) Her name is Tiarra Nicole. Tasha and Tiarra are doing well.

Christie has spent lots of weekends teaching workshops across the country, writing, keeping our home, providing acupuncture treatments, and care-giving for Marie. She started a day school for special needs children this fall and has had wonderful success. Needless to say, she has been busy!

Ricky is now, 18 years old, a senior, and preparing to attend a local university. He is doing very well with his karate and has mastered his red belt this year. He works as a handyman for several clients that he has lined up and plans to continue building his small business.

April is in 10th grade. She has spent the past several years as care-giver for her mom and has enjoyed her ‘freedom’ these past 6 months. She misses her mom very much, as do all of us, but is doing well and moving forward. She has made many friends and gotten involved in many activities since she moved here. She has been a joy to have around!

Shelly is 13 and is teetering on the edge of ‘teenage’ and ‘princess’! She can’t decide which she would rather be! Her reading and math are progressing slow and steady. This past year she was involved in Miracle League Basketball, Baseball and Bowling. She loved it!

All of the children have participated in an educational co-op for the year and have been doing so well. I am very proud of them. Ricky and April participated in a state wide mock trial competition this fall with Government Club and did very well. They had a great time and learned a lot about our judicial system.

Overall, we have had a busy, wonderful, tearful, amazing year! We have seen God move in every situation and every day! His grace, mercy and blessings have not failed us and His hand has moved mightily in our daily lives. We covet your prayers and wish to bestow upon each of you, our friends and family, warmest wishes and God’s blessings in the New Year!

Blessings in the Savior, Jesus Christ,

The Berry Bunch
